I'm after a battery and charger, we are going to using a boat for a week in France, we have a motor, but we need to sort battery and charger.
Any pointers? It won't be used other than French trips, so we don't want to break the bank.

Leisure batteries take your pick there's so many but a 110amp should do,charger go for the C-tech not the cheapest but generally the best,the wrong charger can knacker a battery just make sure it's a smart charger

Check out ABS batteries on eBay. Good prices and quick free delivery. I used 2 x 85ah batteries rather than 1 x 110, easier to lug about and balance the weight in the boat and not a huge amount of difference in price. You should get a week out of 2 x 85ah where I'm not sure you would from a 110. Now gone to LifePo but probably not worth it for one trip.

I agree with you the the big batteries get a bit heavy to lug about a 110ah the 110ah batteries we had wouldn't last a week so used to end up taking two anyway, two 85ah would probably be a better option

Go outdoors usually have sales on batteries, I've got 75ah batteries as the higher ah weigh a ton

Depends on countless variables: distance fished, engine power, speed of boating, wind and waves, number of carp and nuisance species, the need to transport your gear and the possibility to charge on or near the bank. I have a 120ah Deep Cycle which can be discharged up to 80% in stead of the average 50% on a semi traction, and that is not nearly enough for me when on the fish for a week. Nothing more annoying than to have an empty battery on big winds and carp.
