I'm currently using a Fox Warrior spod rod thats 20 years old with a daiwa emblem spod reel (similar age).. struggling to launch large spombs more than 20 or so wraps (partly my technique probably) - was thinking of upgrading the rod to either free spirit CTX SPM or E class launcher. first question is there much difference between the 2 (the latter is out of stock at the moment). secondly should i get a 13ft one for distance (it wont fit in my rod bag) ? thanks for the advice

Heard lots of very good reviews of the CTX SPM rods from users.
For similar sort of money, the Tacklebox CFX spod is worth a look an awful lot of rod for the money.

With regard to the 13ft, I think if you're consistently wanting to cast 100+ with a large spomb then the longer rod makes more sense.

i bought the CTX spm and replaced the 20 year old braid with fox exocet to arma kord 50lb leader.. be interesting to see how much distance this adds

I have the darenth valley dms 10' rod from tackle box great little rod if your not going for distance
