After a marker reel to go on a fox 2.75 marker rod so won't be using a spod on this and will be fishing less than 100yards seems loads about but haven't got a clue which is best or which to avoid.

Personally would look at something like a Shimano Aerlex or Speedmaster. Can be picked up around 50-80 depending in current deals.
Both will be more than capable of the range and wouldn't feel odd on a 2.75 rod.
