Hi,

Off to France later in the year and the lake is very weedy and I've heard a lot of anglers use boats with echo sounders to find holes in the weed to present on.

I don't own a boat but thinking of hiring or buying one.

The question is do they work for the said task mentioned above?

It's an expensive outlay for a week as I can't use them on my clubwater at home. Hiring one for the week is also expensive (£200).

Don't quote me but do your research on the water if there all boating, then try and not use a boat , be different maybe, u can find holes with a lead, clip up etc, more than 1 way to skin a cat, good luck

I'm not saying this is the way to go , but a mate goes to France now and then and on the lakes where its buissy he reels in every night for a good kip, baits up 2 or 3 times in the night , casts out after breakfast, catches a fish or 2 then rests and baits it , he normally catches more , catch them off guard, just think there's always a way

Speak to the owners. If they say boats are essential then you may struggle without one.

All depends on the lake and the size of it along with pressure and stocking so best to take the guide from The owner....

Done this on bounty well. Everyone boats out there and fishes the same. Hitting it with a spomb worked wonders for me always worth being different
