Hi all, Just got myself a ticket on a 50 acre pit that allows boats. I have never used or owned one before. After doing some research I am looking at a 2.3m Rydal with a Bison 55 engine. I need to boat to allow me to put rigs out in bad weather and be able to go and retrieve weeded up fish without it being too big and bulky. Do the more experienced users think that the 2.3M boat will be up to this? This was the one I was looking at https://rydalribs.com/products/rydal-230

How deep is the lake? You may even go smaller (i.e. less bulk).

No idea on depth I've never been up there, it's stoneacres so I was just going to go up there and speak to some of the lads fishing it to see what they use/recommend . I was wondering if it would be better to go for a smaller boat maybe a 1.8 or something like that. I thought with the 230 it was a good price and could be used on bigger lakes so may have more longevity in it

Then I'd ask around a bit first, maybe. If its a sheltered and shallow lake, you'll probably have less serious waves and a smaller boat will maneuver just fine. Just depends on what's more important - less bulk or versatility.
If you want the best of both worlds you could opt for a different brand. There's an increasing number of brands that produce good boats with lower weights at hardly a serious price difference.
