Hi - I'm a current member and have been since the current club started, sadly haven't fished it much over the last 2 years but hopefully will get more chance this coming season.

If you don't mind me asking what's it like on there?. It's certainly got some very nice looking fish in!. I take it it's not the place you can leave you gear and have a quick wander with so much of the public about

It's fine there - fair bit of footfall all day/night - runners, cyclists, dog walkers, commuters, etc. You do get the odd drunk/rowdy person walking past but I've never had any trouble. There are always other anglers fishing or doing laps.
Regarding leaving your gear - I wouldn't do this on any open access water personally, don't particularly think you'd be at any greater risk at the Wharf that any other public place. You probably could get away with it if you put any easy to steal gear in your bivvy but equally may get looted depending on who is walking past....

I had a site meeting last summer on the Willis construction site where the pub got demolished beautiful day cooking hot and had to go up to the twelfth lift of scaffold, the higher I got up the haki stairs the more of the residents I could see all over the Wharf, I was surprised how many got in the little side dock areas on the warm days a mate of mine has done a few years on there moved from Hereford to Penarth with work but not had a lot in his time on there but what he's had have been quality.
I can remember feeding the carp my crusts off my sandwiches in there 20 odd years ago when I worked on the apartments further down towards the county hall end used to chuck them in off the scaffold and watch them come from out in the middle to start slurping them down.

Fished it about 14/15 years ago when I lived in Adamsdown... was free fishing and had some decent carp fishing to the back of the big boat that used to be there on Bute Street side... I hear its now long gone.... wasn't the most friendly of places to fish at night being next to Bute Street but never had any major issues. Good memories
