This could be a real dumb question but...
I've an isa that I've not really used. I've reregistered it to activate it again so no issue there. Its a cash ISA
My question is - I read on the Martin Lewis site that if I put 4000 in before April 6, then it's topped up by 25 per cent by government. Is this right? Is it as simple as that?
Do they simply add it in or do I have to apply for it? There's no mention of it on the barclays website.
Thanks for any help

Let me get this right.... There are people starving to death in the world and the wage the taxpayer gives you to accumulate 4k savings is insufficient, so you take 25% more from the pot? (*sarcasm)
Martin Lewis can **** off though the ****.

I expected morality
*those people selling hemp shopping bags and tie dyed tunics don't put anything back in the system either so the redistribution only goes so far

I'm sure there's tax on purple dye ...
Is this just your way of diverting attention from you not knowing the answer?
I can promise that there's a genuine reason behind my asking so it doesn't mess with your view of the carp forum universe

Unless it's going on an 80” tv and subscription for Ukrainian cable I don't really want to hear it

That doesn't sound right for a cash ISA.
I'm no expert but have you got a link to the MSE where he says that.

Cash ISA's were good when you had to pay tax on interest..
Now you can earn up to £1000 in interest before paying tax on it, coupled with that Cash ISA rates a generally lower than normal savings account makes ISA not worth it for most people.
I learnt that from Martin Lewis
You are better off taking the money out of the ISA and sticking it in a savings account. If you don't need for a while stick it in a notice savings account.
I learnt that from Martin Lewis as well.

What you are talking about is a Help To Buy ISA, only available to first time buyers, helps youngster's get on the housing ladder.
