Looking to book up a social session with a mate, ideally not looking for a rat race water, but one with the chance of a fish or two. Been looking at Blasford Hill website - anyone any experience of fishing there?

I have fished it definitely not your average day ticket water and some nice fish. Lots of swims and a couple of islands to break up the lake. All different tactics work and a really nice lake.

Night fishing is at the owners discretion, so maybe worth a call to him before you go

Thanks for the feedback guys, my mate has spoken to the owner and got night fishing agreed, sounds like it's well run and idiot free!

I fished there last year.
quite a small lake - extremely hard fishing, as seriously over-fished.

According to the bailiff; the only way you can get a bite is to literally cast REALLY TIGHT to one of the islands. small baits. inconspicuous.

Fished there for 48 hours last year - not one person on the whole lake caught anything.

I wouldn't waste my time, personally.

Odd that.
I've plenty of pals that have fished here, very rare for them to blank as far as I'm aware?
They have done more than 48hrs though.

It's not a hard lake at all!
The decent open water spots and nice margin areas are the places to target.
No way would I class it as a difficult water.
You'd have to be doing something pretty wrong to blank a full 48 hours, that's for sure!
My advice would be to watch what everyone else is doing, and then do the exact opposite!

Fished there a bit in the 90's / 00's before the lakes became one. Islands and the margins best spots - lovely overhanging trees to present baits under.
