Hi Merv
I fished it back in Sept last year. The cats were quite active and test your gear to the limit (and beyond!). So much so that I stopped fishing the nights as we weren't getting that much carp activity at night anyway and the cats were clearly more active during darkness. Playing a 100lb + cat on carp gear at night is most definitely not for the faint hearted! Hearing the big cats "planking" out in the darkness made the place feel prehistoric!
I ended up fishing with just boilies as it seemed the cats liked pellet (and even maize!), but this was by no means the complete answer, as we still caught cats on boilies alone. I think fishmeals seemed to attract the cats more, so perhaps think around that and try something nut based (for example).
The place is awesome. We ended up with 96 fish between the 4 of us, with 5 x 50s and a dozen 40s amongst the better carp.
Facilities are superb, with the central wooden hut being very well equipped with electrics, freezer, fridge and reliable fresh water from a stand-pipe next to it. BBQ is also excellent and was well used during our trip. I posted a short Youtube video which anyone can watch if you search for Goncourt Woods Lake.
Pascale and Maxime are great hosts and were never in your face but always available for questions and bait supplies.
Cheers
Chris

I was there for 2 weeks in July last year, fairly similar results with cats and carp.
I did get lots of carp through the daytime and if putting some effort in at night (re doing rods rather than just leaving them) also catching.
I had quite a few decent cats through the day time, 100lb+ on top of a lot of smaller ones too.
As below, great facilities, great fun, very social

I know they had been actively removing the smaller cats to thin them out so it may be a bit better for your trip.
Either way, it's a lovely lake, great facilities and very sociable so you'll have a good time
