I'm going to be fishing a really weedy lake and I'm wanting to try braid on there, could you recommend me a good braided mainline that sinks well ? Max range will be around 80 yards cast so not too far at all, been looking at subbraid but to be honest I don't know where to start with braid, just needs to be strong and sink well as most of the fishing will be in the margins 👍

Hydro Sink Noir thread

I've used 22lb Garner Hydro sink and it is great - Tried other supposed sinking braids and they didn't...

Hydro sink noir is supposed to sink better but a little thicker - I've got a spool ready to try. However the green hydro sink sinks well enough too!

I personally wouldn't look any further than those.

Edit - The Avid one might be worth a look but I have not tried it...

Gardner hydrosink for me

Fox submerge is ok but doesnt sink as well as the gardner braid and the avid braid doesn't sink at all.

I binned the avid braid after my first go with it so not sure if it improves and how well it keeps its colour. Their gear is pretty hit and miss though

I've been using the Avid camo braid since September. It sinks like a brick, casts like a dream, retains its colour totally.
You must have got a bad batch.
