I currently have a Solar SP Barrow/Ruckbag that I think about selling for a Nash Subterfuge Rucksack (or a Speero Rucksack).
Which do you rate better/more? The Solar has 1650 dernier fabric, but how much dernier do you need? The Nash Subterfuge serie is very expensive.

Priority for me on a Rucksack is comfort. Any Rucky must go from your shoulders to your waist to distribute the load and have both a waist and a chest strap, otherwise if the bag sits too high or doesn't have said straps all the weight is transferred to your lower back.
After that it is size as I like to get my luggage out of the way when set up, preferably underneath or behind the bed. And don't go for a huge one as you just fill it and it becomes incredibly heavy...50/60ltr capacity max.
The Nash Subterfuge, whilst being a clever design with the fold out table bit is not only expensive but offers little support when carrying, it doesn't have either of the above straps, so for me is a non starter.
Can't comment on the Speero but feedback is good, especially with the extra bags you can clip on and off depending on what extras you may need to take. But again for me is a non-starter as I prefer a flatter, longer style ruck.
I have been using the Trakker NXG Deluxe Rucksack, which is superb, very comfortable, chest and waist straps and slides under the bed when not in use.

Good post, and you echo all of my thoughts on a rucksack. Comfort is number one priority, otherwise you'd end up settling in the nearest swim and are less likely to continue searching and looking. A rucksack without a waist strap, like you say, is a non starter. Also, I've found that the shorter rucksacks are less comfortable and don't follow the profile of your back as they should. I have used an Aqua roving rucksack since they were released (I'm on my third, as their longetivity is not on par with their design). I think that I'll have a look at the Trakker offering after your review.

I too used to have the Aqua Roving Ruck but it was just a bit too small and the deluxe version was awful, (quality wise) had 2 and both went back within a month for stitching issues.
The Trakker sits in-between the two for me, a bit bigger than the Roving and not quite as big as the deluxe. Had it since they came out, (about 18 months now) and it has been faultless..massive

Fair points made, gentlemen. Thanks for that. I think I will keep my Solar SP Barrow/Ruckbag then. I think I won't be gaining a lot from switching then to the Nash one.
The Speero looks great to replace my current carryall. That is a clumsy bag when needing to walk a lot.
