I used to fish this lake as a kid, it has a potted history over the years of fish theft, otters, KHV among other things. I walked round yesterday with my family and spotted a couple of carp in the shallow water near the inlet at the top end.
Has anyone fished it in recent years and know what the current stock is, and if the KHV is still a problem? I'm wondering if it might be worth a winter day session or two over Christmas.

I used to fish it is a kid as well, used to be some cracking sport on there, not just the Carp but some lovely Perch and Crucians as well.
They removed most of the fish when they de-silted it and replanted the islands some years ago, (can't remember when but must be over 10/12 years ago now) and a lot of the fish were sold, however some were re-introduced and some escaped the netting. Then some were lost to Otters and our Eastern European friends....the KHV hasn't been an issue in recent years although there was a sewage leak into the lake earlier this year but it didn't do too much damage.
There are definitely still a few Carp in there, mainly doubles and I have heard of the odd low 20 but certainly not in the numbers there used to be.
think it is less than a fiver for a day session so well worth a bash...

I had some cracking days there as a young lad catching crucians and loads of gudgeon too if I remember rightly. Also my first double figure carp probably around 1995, on a ritchworth tutti!
I may give it a bash in the new year, sounds like it's worth a day walking round with a couple of rods

I used to fish it a bit earlier than that, probably around 1990...I was a match/pleasure guy then so more interested in the Crucians/Roach/Perch but I do remember these weird blokes sat in a haze of smoke under 50 inch Brollies with 2 rods on bite alarms with wires.....
