Hi, quite like the look of this rucksack , just wondering how waterproof is that top compartment if im trekking to my swim and its lashing down , would everything in that top bit end up wet ?

Just get a waterproof rucksack cover - doesn't matter then. Military 1st sell them in different sizes - have one for every rucksack I own.

It would have to be completely submerged to get everything soaked I would say. It's definitely not 100% waterproof though. As said you can get a daysack cover to eliminate the problem completely. I have recently swapped over from a thinking anglers rucksack and personally think it's a lot better.

Agreed. It would of been a lot better with some internal pockets to separate different stuff.

I've had a lot of rucksacks over the last 40 years and the esp camo is the most comfortable rucksack I've ever owned the new one looks the same with the extra bag and bank sticks holders the most uncomfortable ones are the thinking anglers mk1 and the Cotswold roamer mk3 I also agree pockets on the inside would have been better on new one
What's annoying is the esp original rucksack had pockets in the main bag

I have just got one of these and having a play round with my gear have got all of the following packed in
- Left Side Pocket = Korda Large Rig Safe
- Right Side Pocket = Case with spombs/marker floats
- Front Pocket = Large Fox Tackle Box
- Top detacahable pouch = Korda Tackle Safe, Hook box, Ridgemonkey boilie chopper, polaroids & receiver, various packets in zipped lid pocket
- Main section - Space for 2 x Korda Compac 140, 3 x Korda Compac 125, and packaway waterproofs. (I'm not bothered with no pockets in the main compartment, for such a compact rucksack, pockets would take up valuable space)
- Outside loops, banksticks and catapult.
Quickdraw mat can be clipped on as well.
Tackle wise, there is space for absolutely everything I need.
Leaving a couple of the cases out of the main compartment and/or leaving main tackle box out of front pocket if doing a quick day session and there will be space for a couple of kilo of bolies and few tubs of wafters/pop ups.

It looks a good size looking at photos of the new one and the old camo one it seems to me that it's been based on the size and shape of the specialist one it looks slimmer which I like it makes 40ltr probably inc the top pouch
