I have never joined a syndicate before mainly because I can't really afford the ridiculously high prices for a year's membership. Does anyone know of any syndicates around Kent that are not too expensive? Feel free to say on here or private message me thanks 😊

How many nights a year do you typically fish? It may be worth looking as the cost in terms of cost per use. If you plan to for 1-2 nights a week then a syndicate can be excellent value.
Also if cost is an issue there are plenty of angling clubs up and down the country offering amazing value for money. I don't know your area well but I'm sure some other members may be able to point you in the right direction

I hope so mate. I can't go every week as I've got a wife and kid I need to spend time with but I want to try go at least once a month in the new year if I can find a place I can afford around Kent. I'm from Bromley in South London which is very close to north Kent by car and not too far away from east Sussex...

There are barely any true "syndicates" in Kent. I can only think of one off the top of my head whereby you all own a share/multiple shares in a lake which is owned by you, not by someone who has the lease.
99% are club waters or societies. Essentially you pay your money and they kindly ask you to contribute to work parties occasionally. Some voluntary, some mandatory, some has a financial impact depending on whether you attend or not.
If you have absolutely zero bearing on decisions/work done, then you are merely a paying user of the lake.
As for clubs/societies in Kent, the vast majority have waiting lists.

Kingfisher
You also have those who claim they are syndicates...

Mid Kent
Larky

To be honest if you're fishing once a month then a syndicate may not really be suitable cost wise. You really need to be fishing a night or 2 a week to make it worthwhile. I would try to find a club or 2 to join instead which tend to be significantly cheaper. Hopefully some kind forum members will give you a recommendation or 2.

Oh I thought syndicate was a members lake. I'm confused
I think it's a members lake I'm looking for. Somewhere I can just pay one off payment and turn up whenever I can for a night fish

The 'Syndicate' term is used a bit loosely these days - it used to mean a group of anglers with an equal share in a water, where the cost and maintenance etc is shared equally between members
These days its typically used to describe a limited membership water - usually small (ish) number of members and expensive membership
clubs tend not to limit the number of members and are usually a lot cheaper to join - having said that these days they do sometimes limit the numbers on certain waters - often by selling a separate ticket to fish nights. Usually its still cheaper than a 'syndicate'
