Hi, I'm a 25 year old lad living in central Cambridge. Been fishing for Carp seriously for around 5 years now. Done various day ticket venues catching Carp up to mid-thirties. I'm looking for a new challenge to start next Spring, a bit of a “campaign” if you like on a certain lake which has some upper-thirties, fourties and possibly even bigger fish to go at. I'd prefer it to be a Club Water or a Syndicate Water which is fairly accessible in terms of getting a ticket. I work for myself so travelling isn't an issue, but if possible I'd like it to be within a couple of hours from Cambridge. Many thanks in advance for the advice/help!
Why not fish the Cambridgeshire waters? Seems really odd that you'd want to fish elsewhere given the sheer amount of high quality waters that are on your doorstep.

Hi TeeCee, understandably there are some high quality waters in this area. I would more than willingly fish one of these. But I have thus far been unable to get a ticket for one although I am on the waiting list for a few venues. As I said I am looking to start somewhere next Spring if poss, that's why I'm casting my net a little bit further in terms of travelling to see if anybody knows of anywhere I could possibly get on for the Spring time.

Try the St Ives complex and give Gordy a call who runs it and see if there's a waiting list for next year. The Lea valley is all up in the air as to who is going to take over the park waters; heard on the grapevine that it could be Embryo, either way, there's waiting lists on those waters that are full and will be handed over to the new lease holder. You could try the King's Arms and Cheshunt club which gives you a variety of waters like Fridays lake which has a good head of fish in it or the Lea Valley Consortium ticket which gives you a varied amount of waters like the Railway pit etc.
All in all, it's just a case of finding a decent water and getting your name down on the list, I'd go far to say to get your name on as many different types of waters for the changing of the season as you can.

Most clubs renew May/june, so even if you can get in, springs all but gone.
St ives the obvious choice, you'll get in I'm sure, maybe not shallow, but all the others.
Massive challenge though, too much for most.
