Hi all,
Fished small lakes in France before but shortly off to carp fish large Portugese reservoir (Pedragao Grande).
Grateful for any intel anyone has on tactics, bait, rigs etc. Many of these reservoirs hold large populations of small carp alongside predators such as pike and bass where food source is natural with plenty of crustacean. Targeting larger carp and thinking of maize, corn & shellfish boilies.
Any thoughts very welcome.
Cheers

Never been to Portugal so cannot comment on a specific way to fish it
but i'm guessing the principle to fishing big waters in Portugal is the same in most hot countries in Europe ?
if you cannot find fish or are time limited then just choose a swim you like and will be able to get into for several days
and bait it heavilly
if you have access to maize and a big burner / stove then thats the cheapest way to go
if not find a supermarket or wholesalers and buy the catering tins of sweetcorn works out quite cheap
then i would look for Frolic dog buiscuits .....chicken flavour seems to be slightly better than the beef flavour ( dont know why ) and being fairly large will deter the little fish for a while
and of course not forgetting the Tigers if you can find them
that lot should make any carp investigate your bait
good luck with your adventure

I lived in Portugal for three years. I would have liked to stay there but had to move because of work. Portugal is a great country to live, travel, and go fishing. The working and living conditions there are quite good. Most of all, I was impressed by the cheerful people who were ready to help at any time. I occasionally visit Portugal during vacations and enjoy its atmosphere. When I travel, I rent a car to get around. I think this advice will be useful to many people who travel. To choose the best price, I use Autojardim service. There you can compare many rental companies and choose the cheaper one.

Not sure how that link helps with advice on the fishing
Perhaps I could offer a few links on discounted golf green fees......but I won't!!
