So I have the privilege of being on a syndicate where there are just carp present apart from half a dozen perch. I am going to give maggots a try this weekend and just wondered how many I should be looking at for a session? Seems the fish have been on naturals for the last couple of months as the fishing has slowed right down.

Thanks
Brent

How are you fishing them mate?

If you're going on the float you'll need less. Swimfeeder obviously you'll want more. And if you're going to go all carpy and try and fill the lake in....

I'm a big fan of maggot and feeder - for 48 hours, 2 rods I'd be happy enough with maybe 4 to 5 pints. Once you get your swim going you only need a few every now and then to keep the fish interested. Take a tip from the match guys and how they work.

Find your spot. Early on a feeder full every 15 to 20 minutes or so. Once the fish come on to it, cut down and catapult a few every now and then as you recast after the bites.

It's a great way to fish. More active and engaging than sitting on 3 rods with a bucket load of boiling dumped out there for hours on end.

I usually add some cooked long grain rice to the maggots when feeding
I don't catch anymore but I'm a tight sod

a gallon probably, although they do tend to come into their own in the winter - this time of year I'd be fishing Boilie personally.
Are you sure?
