Hi guys , I've not done much fishing in the last few years due to lack of interest but I've got a few trips planned soon . And could really do with re spooling my reels . I've always used tech black in 12 or 15lb depending on which set up . But can't find any in 12lb which is what I'm after at the mo . Is there a new version or has it gone completely ? If it's gone is there any recommendations apart from syncro ? (Had a bad experience with it and won't go back )

Yes Technium black is gone. As below Berkley Connect CM-90 is a good alternative, I use it in 18lb, it's very similar but a bit more stretch, I love it.

You will not find it in stock anywhere though

I have just spooled up witht he cm90 - to me it seems to habe a lot more stretch.

There is a technium mono out, which I assume is the replacement for the black. Have a spool in 12lb, feels very similat to the black but maybe a little more springy/pess supple.

New version coming out apparently

Used Technium black before, fished with CM90 last year a lot better than Technium black, this year I use Korda Tochdown and prefer it over CM90.

Can anyone confirm what the breaking strains / thicknesses are? Seems to be errors all over the listings and I'm not even sure the Berkley website is correct??

I thought I had the 18lb, I want to pre order some more.

0.28mm 8lb actual 14lb
0.30mm 10lb actual 16lb
0.34mm 12lb actual 21lb
0.38mm 15lb actual 24lb
0.40mm 18lb actual 27lb
0.45mm 20lb actual 34lb

Still non the wiser, I will measure mine in work today. Had to rip the label off the spool to spool up - stupid design.

Them sizes to strains look like the ones from the Berkley site. It's apparently because it's an American line and they give the breaking strain and then also a "thickness of Xlb" to seemingly show how strong the line is for the lower diameter.

Yeah, just measured mine in work and it's the 0.38mm / 15lb.
