Hi All, I'm interested in others views on how they setup their buzzbars and why?. I've always worked on the premise that on a clear water I would angle my rods downwards (or low and level) with rod tips close to the water, its just how I've always done it. Unless of course I'm fishing over weed and need to lift the line.

Now I see more and more people setting up with a higher front end even in a clear swim. Is there a reason for doing this? or is it just a personal preference on what people thinks looks best?

Personal preferance i guess. I use slack, or semi slack lines, and always angle my rod tips upwards. I fish with the clutches locked up, and like to think the rod tip angled upwards, can bend and it plays the fish for you before you get there.

In the events i fish tight lines, i still prefer the tips upwards but it depends gow that will make the line lay. If fishing at range in shallow water ill stick them upwards, if its close range in deeper water ill tilt them down.

Unless I am avoiding weed I have always had my rod tips low/parallel to the water. Not saying I'm right but I can't think of a good reason to have them high except for weed/obstacles in still water. Flowing water is different.

9 times out of 10 tips well under water due to swans etc,but I like the idea of watching the tips

Where possible I like my tips quite high i can see my line pick up and drop back from subtle liners and can watch the line where it enters the water and decide if I have a take or not even if the alarm on indicates a beep or two. Just this weekend I had 2 bleeps and just seen the line pick up slightly and I was in having had my tips underwater I would have had to wait for a run to develop

I think its personal choice and what circumstances decide. If heavy with bird life or floating detritus tips at water level so i can sit and watch them dance around with movement or deep into water to dodge birds and ****. If weedy or circumstances allow rods slightly higher with slack lines to watch the line straighten out occasionally, and the way i fish its not occasionally

Generally I like my rod tips high so I can pass a rod under them should a fish cross over one of them.

But it also depends on the fishing situation. Wind, weed etc...

I also find with swans the higher the tips the better so they can just pass under them in the margins.
