This must seem a strange request but is there anyone in the south west of England who would help me by fishing overnighters together.
I hoped my son would but he is going to uni and won't be available. Because of my age and health, I am 63, my wife would be worried sick. Any help and advice would be appreciated, I don't need help fishing wise I know what I am doing, thank you.

Join a syndicate, or club water. Get to know other anglers that way. There'll always be someone who goes fishing the same time as you.

Neil WTF is wrong with you ?

The guy has told you he has health issues and in his 60s so obviously he is a very sensible and realises if he was alone on a lake at night and had a problem he could be in real trouble
so asking around for someone in the Swindon area to go with him IS MANING UP AND recognising the dangers and seeking a solution and should be admired for it
not have some snotty remark

I've got health issues too. In fact, I tried to go fishing a couple of weeks ago, but had to pack up because I was in so much pain.

If I've offended him, then I'll apologise to him. I don't see why you feel the need to get involved

Linear mainly but am thinking of fishing Todber or anywhere my buddy goes. Also I have own transport if that is an issue and am a good cook.

I am aware it's public forum. I'm also aware that you're entitled to your opinion. However, the point I was making is, I don't see why you felt the need to get offended on someone else's behalf!

What I said was only meant as a joke. If I have offended you, then I apologise.

I too suffer with ill health. But, it's fair to say that we've all said porkies to our wives at some point, especially when it comes to fishing.
