I'm going to a venue where I need to use a boat quite a way out. I'm looking for a light that will come on automatically when it starts getting dark and stays on until first light.

I don't want to have to worry about forgetting to turn it on if I get a take

It's use is for me to be able to easily navigate back to my swim, especially if it gets misty etc

I notice Ridgemonkey have launched a markalite kit which would be ideal but it doesn't seem to be in shops yet

Anyone recommend something similar that I could buy?

how about solar controller.+battery 12 volt light bulb ..red ....or what colour u need can set controller to come on at dusk oan stay on till dawn either auto or set time
and pulg in small solar pannel done....

Have a look at tackle box under boat accessories they do some that go on top of the marker poles

Automatic solar garden light. Couple of quid in a garden center.

TWO lights are needed if you want to come in perfectly say between 2 pairs of rods

1 st light at the front low down then a second light higher up and towards the back of the swim when coming back in you just need to line up the 2 lights make a big difference

I use two large rock solar lights from b and q to light up my swim.

I angle them pointing down along the floor around my rods and mat.

I changed the battery to better rechargeable ones.

They come up just as it's getting dark and off at first light.

These would be great as a marker for you placed either side of the swim
