I'm looking for some braided mainline for fishing a weedy water and seen lots of feedback about the Gardner hydro-sink, but not much about the RidgeMonkey Descend.
I've got some Daiwa j-braid grand in 49lb (0.24mm) ready to spool up, but I'm wondering if I should go for something else!

I decided to buy the Descend braid (30lb) for my use and also got a spool of the Gardner Hydro Sink 22lb for other half to use.
In short, I have had nothing but problems trying to get it to sink - Other half has had no such problems wit the Gardner. Whenever I cast out I sink it, but it pops back up to the surface and gets covered in floating weed.
I'm on the cusp of binning it to be honest and getting a spool of hydro sink - Unless anyone has any suggestions.
I tried slack lines and tight lines - All the same. I suspect that tight lines with a back lead might work, but I got it so that I could fish slack if I wanted to...

Try treating it with Kryston Greased Lightning. Worked a treat for me on Whiplash 8 strand. Have largely given up on using braid. Most of the claims are marketing hype and in 99% of situations mono is as good or better in real angling situations in the UK freshwater fisheries.
In certain very specific situations it has its uses but mono can pretty much do anything more reliably and at a fraction of the price.

Braids a funny old thing. For situations like weed and using floating braid's, it's a winner.
Have you tried the Korda sinking stuff at all? I was tempted to buy the expensive one they do, what put me off was the price as I've been fishing upto 360yds - can't go any further because of massive weed beds. Totally filling 4 rods with 14000 reels would cost a small fortune, Instead, I'm using Korda Touchdown in 20lb, it sinks like a brick - literally have to peel it off the lakebed the following morning - it's strong, it's excellent line and doesn't cost a fortune. The only downside with Touchdown it's is mono and does have stretch even though it's pre stretched from what I can make out.

Gardener have been doing line yonks , others haven't, braid can be very cost effective.
