I'm joining a club that will offer opportunities for catching smaller carp to doubles size off the top at close range say 30yards max.... I have a ss2600 for reel but wanted to get something as either a smaller 8ft rod or 9ft spinning telescopic.. do you think a 50g spinning rod would do the trick ?

as long as it can cast the distance I wouldn't see why not my previous PB common of 16lb came to a 8ft 50g 2 piece spinning rod when I was poorer and its all i had to fish with, I think I even had some no name bait runner reel on it too
