Anyone feel like this.
So I'm fishing,glad to be out but everything has come together my spombing is almost perfect my casting is spot on(well almost) and I feel really confident everything has slotted in just nicely,much better than what sometimes happens and then it's a complete disaster/disappointment and it affects my confidence.
All I need now is a fish or a bite at least fingers crossed.

Yes, it is so satisfying when you apply yourself to make a result happen rather than chucking and chancing and hoping for the best.
Since February i had concentrated on catching a particular Carp from a local lake. In the back of my mind knowing that my best chance would be in May-June from recent form.
I did catch a few along the way, but through my sessions i honed my approach, and had an idea of two areas that i would concentrate on.
I knew the fish had a liking for sweetcorn, so chose to bait with Pigeon Conditioner and added a small amount of Sweetcorn and a few of my home made Boilies.
Fishing a margin spot my usual Heli set up was swapped for an Inline, as i assumed it might give me an advantage in hooking potential in conjunction with the washing line set up i chose to use.
Hook bait was a 12mm Boilie topped with yellow fake corn.
Each session I was catching, and also started to get a few recaptures of Carp i have had in previous seasons, which grew my confidence in the tactics, rig and Bait i was using.
Then 2 weeks ago with a low pressure system bringing in strong gusty winds and rain to oxygenate the water i knew i was in with a chance of catching the big girl.
I spent most of the day with the rods out sheltering in the bivvy from the awful conditions.
Then in the early evening the left hand rod had a drop back on the washing line set up.
And after a strong close in battle i eventually slipped the net under the Big Common (Queen of the Lake).
When you have confidence in what you are doing, it's just a matter of time before it all comes good.

I had that too on the canal 2 years ago and been baiting up had a few low doubles but heard there was 3 known 30's in this stretch 2 mirrors 1 common and I ended up catching the common at 32lb few months after a guy who dropped some bait off to me told me about the carp being in canal by where I live.
What made it more worth while was the time I put in and patience and the confidence to fish down the edge practically under my rod tips (well maybe 10' further fish bank)nice wake up call at 4:45am on 31st may 2019
