Evening all
I'm off to Spain week Sunday on the overnight ferry to Santander. Not primarily a fishing trip, and won't have much gear with me, but enough to do a few sessions. Never been to northern Spain before, but I quite fancy looking at public lakes and a bit an adventure. Anyone got any experience in this area? I'll have a van so can get about and sleep in back if need be.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Also, anyone know if the Spanish version of the carte de peche is easy to get once there? I don't think you can do it online, but might be wrong

i have family living in southern Spain and they mentioned an exam. I believe their must be a tourist permit but have never managed to find out more. I also know a test is also required in Germany which in theory is good for fish care.
From Google:
A regional fishing license, or rod license, (permiso/licencia de pesca) is required to fish both inland and sea waters in Spain. ... Applicants must pass an exam in Spanish before being granted a license. After the exam, it takes over a month to receive the results and permit.

Cheers. Looks like you can get around the exam if you have a valid UK fishing license. So it's just a matter of applying for it when there snd waiting a day. Well thats what I think. Anyone done the same?

it all depends on what autonomous region you are fishing in .....here in murcia we have to a fishing license and compulsory PL insurance which you need an NIE for (abit like a NI number) Andulusia has a written exam and No way around it !!!! ....my only advice is if you do not have a license DO NOT fish because if caught by Seprona ( basically fishing police amongst other things ) ....it will end in tears with a big fine confiscation of your fishing gear and on a really bad day your vehicle as well ...these people take no prisoners
