I'm having a break from work this summer and fancy a trip to some larger lakes. I know Orchid well, having fished there in the mid 90's- what's the score since Marsh Pratley's death- is it still open for fishing and who's running the show these days? Are pegs still stitched up for days on end?
Also looking at Horseshoe- which I've never fished before. Is it worth travelling down from the north west- I don't want to drive for 3 hours to find that only the crappiest of pegs are available. How busy is it due to people being furloughed? I am a Carp Society member, btw.

Both great waters, horseshoe will take more effect but the rewards are outstanding,. You will almost certainly get a decent swim never that full. I reckon the busiest I have ever seen it is less than half the swims taken and I angle there a lot.

Horseshoe has been almost completely full everytime I've been there within the last month, never seen it so busy.

Mid week is the new weekend apparently, either everyone is still on furlough or holidays as yes, it's very busy midweek to Sunday now..
