I've just done a 36 hour session on one of my club waters and walking on to the lake Saturday I noticed that one of the lads who was sitting in a peg that I wanted (but who just happened to be also packing up
) was using a Trakker Tempest 200 with the cap (pictured).
I was very impressed with it as I could virtually stand up inside and the amount of space was frankly incredible. It would certainly accommodate me, the kids and my misses plus all of my kit and jokes aside, I could probably park my power porter inside it.
Totally sold, having watched it been dismantled and packed away in 5 minutes I bought one to replace my Nash 2 Man Mk3 Double Top which although is an incredible bivvy takes me a lot longer to setup and pack down plus is nowhere near as spacious.
However I have since heard a few issues about the winch pole (pole number 1) bending and I am already thinking about ways to combat that maybe for instance by lining the pole with a strengthening bar.
Can I just ask you guys with a Trakker Tempest, what is your experience with that pole number 1? If it has bent how have you fixed it? Does it come out of the block easily enough, and can a metal rod be inserted inside pole 1 as a liner to prevent deforming?
Totally separately, is the inner capsule worthwhile buying and does the inner capsule come with a built in groundsheet?

Is that just an issue for the 200. It's not an issue I've ever heard of to be honest, on any tempest model.

Saw the Tempest 200 with inner capsule in the store last week, was surprised that it was so small inside for such a big footprint outside, I have the Slx v3 plus wanted the T200 for when the kids and wife come along but gonna pass on the T200, i really don't gain much space compared to my Slx plus
Hear also alot problems with the poles and it doesn't look like a solid bivvy to me either

Ive had the V1 brolly, ive got the V2 brolly and the tempest 150. never had a problem with any poles being weak.
Also have the inner capsule for the 150 and really like it on longer sessions

when i spoke to trakker at one of the shows they said you can but there is a skill to folding it down if its left attached. I havnt done it yet as i only takes 5 mins to un clip

I have an aquatex Advanced Brolly. The material is very taught when set up and has resulted in the opening pole bending over a 2 year period finally cracking the block. It's been replaced with a new pole and a metal block so see how long this time.

Was the block plastic or machined aluminium?
I think I'm going to insert a solid steel liner in my opening pole as I bet they will all bend over time. Not ideal is it.

There's a video on youtube of a guy doing a 4 month review of the 200 whose front lifting pole bent. By all accounts it doesn't just affect the 200.

It was a form of plastic. Be careful just strengthening the pole as the pressures will be moved elsewhere.

The 200 comes with a machined aluminium block, so I'm hoping that with a strengthened pole it's more robust but I know what you mean, the fixings securing the pole into the block will probably fail. Let's see, hopefully all will be ok. I've ordered the inner capsule, pity they dont do a skull cap wrap for the 200.
