Anyone using the 12ft aviator plus that can give me your honest thoughts.
Would you be happy under arming a 2.5oz lead as well as blasting a 3.5oz
How balanced in the hand are they... how soft are the tips if the power is lower down?
I suppose im asking would they be a decent choice for a 1 set of rods and do it all situation.

Have you ever used the torrix in 3.25lb? If so, they are a stepped up version of those. Bit more backbone to them. I happily use mine fishing light leads in the margins, or chucking the same leads, or bigger longer distances. If im going to lakes i know are small and dont require a big chuck, ill take the torrix. If im fishing bigger waters, i take the aviators, but id happily fish under the tips with them.
In hand they feel nice and light. Mine are paired with basia customs, and have a 50mm kigan 3d ring set fuji seat and full shrink handle. They are very slightly tip heavy, but thats due to the 50mm rings. Its only really noticeable when i make a point of noticing, in normal use youd never know

I've torrix 3.25 they do it all margins and 110 plus 2oz to 4 oz... I can't imagine any reason i'd get rid for the places I fish.

I have a set of 3.25 and 2.5 Tc Torrix and I'm in love with my 2.5 awesomely light rods do me up to 100 yards and so fun to play fish on, 40 minutes playing a rather annoyed 25lb Mirror on Monday although cold utterly joyful. The rod blissfully curved and power in reserve made for a very relaxed capture .

I've some old armalites 2,5lbers i get them same feeling from... but use the torrix most the time now unless on the thames..or small waters ..

I used to use them, there'll be fine mate, from memory 3lb 6oz tc
There isn't a perfect rod , for all round fishing it's always a compromise
But I found them very nice
Only got rid because I use scopes for all my fishing now

I've got some on order with kev clayton but the stepped up plus 2 version which is 3lb 8oz and plan on using for everything

The ER would be a more capable casting rod, than the aviator in my opinion mate, it's has a more powerful butt section, and is of a chunkier blank, it still retains a nice playing action, again in my opinion.
I have a set of the 12ft aviator plus, my brother uses the ER. They have both put small solid bags 100yards, ,but the ER will do a solid 120/130 with ease, ,he hasn't went beyond that, hasn't needed too, I think the Aviator would struggle to make that range, but then he is a much better caster than I am.
They are both very nice rods the aviator, slimmer blank more of a playing action but not a through action , the ER a more capable casting rod while retaining a playing action.
It all just depends on what your preferences are and what you want from a rod.
If I was ever going to get another set off rods I would probably pick the ER, over the aviator, I just think it would be better suited to my angling. Hope this helps

You can get the aviator PLUS 2 which is an extra 2oz on test curve and more of a capable casting rod. Kev Clayton is able to do these blanks from Harrison (He worked for harrison rod building for 11 yrs) not many people know Harrison do these blanks as they don't sell them through tackle shops. Works out roughly 3lb 8oz which is a 3 1/2 tc

They are pretty well known a new model this year have sent a fair few out , definately not a rod for all situations but am yet to find one that is. They actually do a plus 3 too.
