Picked up a set for my father - but seem to be an issue with a couple of the shallow spools.
When rotating the drag clicks as expected for about 1/3 of a rotation, but then is silent for the remaining 2/3.
The other shallow and all the LD spools work / sound as expected. Anyone have and ideas what it could be?

There isnt washers stuck to the spool caps is there. Ones that should be remaining in the spool

Not that I can see.
It's odd, as there is an audible noise for a part rotation but then either becomes dulled or stops until it gets back to the same point that makes the click.
And it's not an issue with the reel, as when I put the LD spools on all click away as you would expect. So makes me think it's something on these two spools.

Ive just received 2 of my reels bought from gooutdoors and they are fine,..still got one to come though

Do you mean when you pull line and drag is engaged? Because the clicker is in the reel so if it was that it be same for all spools. Have you looked underneath the spool to see if there is ridges uniform

Ive not seen the emblem 35 but assuming it uses the same spool clicker as the older emblems, then it could still be his spools.
yes the clicker part sits on the spool main shaft but it relies on a machined profile in each spool to make it click, the profile could be damaged or the spools not sitting correctly on the shaft if as he says his other spools are working as normal

That is the correct clicker assembly, assumed it could be an issue with the machining but nothing that I can work out.

Yea I think all daiwa reels have same. I've never heard of any issues like this though with any daiwa spools. Extreme bad luck, maybe take them back to shop

If its not the profile on inside of spool then without seeing it i would take all the spool washers out of one of the spools that isnt working and try it again by just pushing the empty spool down onto the clicker, this should ensure that the spool is going far enough down onto the reel shaft and washers not stopping it seating properly

Thanks woody, just tried that and unfortunately not worked.
Managed to look at it with a headtourch on and can see the clicker going against the grooves machines in the spool but part way round stops making noise, but visually looks no different.

i would take them back to shop, i have just received my third one and its also fine, extreme bad luck i would say.

used these for first time , no fish but nice reels im surprised they are not used more/rated by people who seem to have turned to the 45 version which I don't really like. Nice line clip, shallow spool, superb line lay. nice weight, great thick air bail bail arm and a super 106cm retrieve. Cant go wrong for 108 quid.
one thing I may do is buy the folding handle from the 45 good spool version as its much better when setting up/down and transportation.

I took your advise, returned them to get replacements and fixed the issue.
Picked up a set for my self whilst I was at it, for the money seem great, much more refined than my infinity br's, tons lighter and smaller as well.
I don't think the handle is that bad, but not as good as a folding.

32.50 from daiwa when back in stock end if June. The ones that are on the gold spool 45 fit these mate
