I have got some baitrunner 6010 which my Aunt and Uncle let me have when I decided to start fishing last year. I am now looking at upgrading these but can not go crazy.

I was set on the Aerlex 10,000 but have being told to look at the speedmaster as it is supposedly all round better, better material, faster line release and the guy in the shop did say a couple of selling points but are they just that sales or will I benefit spending the extra and getting the speedmaster?

Yeah I would look at getting the speedmaster as if the normal aerlex 10000 xtb are like the aerlex 10000 xtb spod reel you need to make sure the bail arm is in the correct position and locked in place when you open it as if it ain't it flips back over and closes when you cast out

Okie well that isn't going to help when casting

I've used the Aerlex Spods & never had any issues with the bail arms closing mid cast but I did have 2 XTD Spods strip the main gears 🤷‍♂️

Isn't the XTD meant to be better than the aerlex? I am a bit concerned about bail arm closing when casting

The ultegra xtd and the speedmaster are essentially the same reels if that helps at all.

Was told the spools would fit but is it worth the extra

The Speedmaster doesn't come with a spare spool whereas the ultegra does, i don't think there's any other difference bar that and the cosmetics, nothing more than my opinion but i think the speedmaster looks nicer in that gunmetal livery
