What's everyone's go to braid for weedy lakes that also have snails mussels and gravel bars/plateaus? Also what diameter would everyone recommend?

braid wouldn't be my first choice for Swan mussels,gravel bars etc,you put braid under pressure and it snaps like cotton on anything sharp

I wouldn't say there are lots of them but they are there but the weed is extreme and the owner of the lake said he'd prefer us to use braid due to the weed situation

I use gardner hydrosink in 22lb which is a sinking braid, I wouldn't t recommend this as it sinks really well and likely to cause you some grief with the gravel and Swan mussels aswell as burying into the weed..ive been caught out by Swan muscles and braid and it snapped very easily.

Power pro in .41 (65lb) or .43 (80lb)
Shimano advise using your usual mono diameter, which would be .40ish in heavy weed

Hi all, resurrecting a historic thread for an update. What are people's recommended sinking mainline braid, for example casting up to 100yds and good at cutting through weed if necessary.
Pros and cons please? Thanks

Sinking braids are thick and heavy and tend to be .35 and above so they won't be the best and cutting through weed.
Sinking line I personally like hydro sink noir. But around weed isn't the best option as it will want to sink between beds and into it. Be better off with a heavy mono or a neutral buoyancy braid.
Unless your fishing close in and upto weed beds

I love the sbx 40lb 0.48 it so easy to use doesn't need wetting and never tangles..
But I can only cast 23 wraps.
The gardner hydro sink braid is 0.35 in 25lb.
The fox submerge 35lb is ONLY 0.20..I want braid that nearly acts the same as my SBX that I can cast much further. Has anyone tried the fox braid or any other that are really strong but thinner?
Ps... There is a 25lb version of sbx but it's not much thinner than the 40lb.

The fox is thinner but not a sinking braid. It will always be the trade off, as they add Kevlar to sinking braids to make them sink. As soon as you reduce or remove the Kevlar it's thinner but more bouyant.
