Might be silly Question can I buy the large rod rests for my cork handles rods then change the insert to take my shrink wrap handles on my other rods can I use different size handles with the same rod rest

Yes and no. You Can swop the inserts but in the large they'll only go down so far and possibly not enough to grip the shrink handles.
I use the small and the widest gap inserts on the longbow x45s and imagine I could

Thanks mate I thought they would have made inserts to fit any rod they know people use different rods as I am definitely not buying two lots

Unfortunately mate like mentioned before the inserts only go so far then you have to get the small versions, like me I couldn't buy any larger or thicker rods because I use the small lockdowns and no matter what size insert I use I couldn't get a cork rod or full duplon rod in them.
I think it would be a good idea if it did but I can see why they don't though because if you use the large ones with small inserts they would look huge with my free spirits because of how thin they are

They do make them to fit different rods. The large fits cork handles and full duplon. The small fits jap and abbreviated. Then each pack of inserts has six different sizes in it. So the two sizes cover twelve different sized blanks. I'm not really sure what else they could do?
Can you imagine how ridiculous it would look to have a large lockdown, but use it with a slim abbreviated handle, and then have a huge great insert to make up the difference? No one would buy inserts like that. Have you seen the size difference of the two lockdowns? I can't imagine anyone wanting to use a slim rod on a full sized lockdown?

Iv gone from old fox rangemaster rods with duplon grips to slim free spirit e gold's which are like a twig so had to go with the small rests and the smallest insert

The Solar rest will require you to continually having to adjust them. I use a set of 3.25 and 2.5 blanks and only have to squeeze or open the P1s to accommodate the difference between the two are small jumping between cork and clean blanks will require removal and opening up the back rest not really a major task none the less one that you will have to do.

As mentioned below the new ones are a totally different design. You will need to take them off the sticks to adjust them as the screw to adjust them is inside the screw thread that screws into your banksticks but only takes a few minutes to do.
