Hi everyone!
New to the forum, needing some advice really
I have an abode bivvy but it doesn't have the tension bars, I have found someone who can supply them for just over £30 but then I still need a ground sheet.
Would i be better off just buying a new bivvy? Haven't night fished as yet jmbut want to get it sorted before the time comes.
Also is the abode bivvy a cheaper version of a better brand? I know koala products sell them but they don't seem useful regarding replies etc.

Welcome to the forum.
You can sort this cheaply.
buy a heavy duty tarp (with an area bigger that the foot print of your bivvy) off ebay. Put your bivvy up on it, put the pegs in thorugh the tarp, draw round the bivvy with a permanant marker pen, take the bivvy off and then cut out round the marked line.
Hey presto, custom fitted groundsheet for £15.

Yeah thats the plan for the ground sheet haha
For the tension bars a friend said to get some pipe and some tee pieces and modify it so it acts as a tension bar
Just wondering if abode are similar to another brand incase this doesn't work

I have managed to put something together for the tension bars, just need to find which bivvy it is now lol

Here ya go, mate.
No mozzie mesh front and back makes me think it's fairly old now. Unless I'm missing it.
So it's two ribs, with a built-in peak. So should set up nice and quick. But it does need functioning tension bars as you can see from the pics. Being two ribs the tension bars for rear and middle are going to need to be longer than on a 3 rib with peak.
if you buy bars that are made for a different bivvy make sure its a two rib with peak and that all the bars are adjustable. sometimes the rear one isnt and it might not fit.
Is it one or two man? im guessing one man from the depth.

Regarding groundsheet. I make my own from the tarp. I find they are much lighter and way more hard-wearing.
I prefer grey to their green colour. The last one I did for my tempest brolly was this one

Thanks for that bud, yeah its a 1 man bivvy, going to try put something together for the tension bars just to see how it goes and I will be doing the same regarding a tarp for the ground sheet.
