My daughters laptop is messing about, which is no good as she's doing A levels on line

Is there any reason not to replace it with a chromebook?
The school are using Microsoft teams which will work fine, so it's just word(or an equivalent) and PowerPoint I'm not sure about
Anyone using them/got kids using them?
I bought one for my dad a few years back and it's been great, but he only uses it to check the racing results

A Chrome Book will do all the things you mention. (not as well as a windows laptop) The main thing's I dont like about them is they are Cloud and App based and are pointless without an internet connection, I'd only get one as an addition to my laptop.

They also stop being supported after so many years, 5 I think. You would be better off with a laptop. That said for school kids over 5 years they would be your best value for money option.

Hiya duggs.

Your daughter should be able to get one from school to see her through lockdown and beyond. Might not be a shiny top end, but it'll likely be set up with all the right specific software etc. for her school and studies.

I don't think that's gonna be an issue, and she can use mine if it is.

@mal as I haven't stopped working at all through all this I'd rather just buy one, plenty of people haven't been so lucky and I'd rather that help go to someone who needs it.

Fair play to you

I had to take mine back just after new year. It kept playing these really dull songs in a whiny voice. Technician took a look and said 'yeah, it's cause it's a dell'

......
