Hi folks,

I am looking at getting new reels for my Shimano TX2 12ft 3.00 TC rods.

Which reel would be more appropriate, the Shimano LC 5500 XTB or the LC 14000 XTB?

I'm looking for a properly balanced set up, the reel must compliment the rod.

The mediums will compliment your setup. If you like a big spool I'd go big LCs. They are a bit heavy compared to the medium LC. Bit the bigger spool will give you that extra yards on the cast.

At the end of the day it's what you like and what you feel comfortable using 👍

Definitely mediums on your setup bud, well that's my opinion anyway. I have a set of 14000 lc on some 3.25 and they still feel to big for what the rod is needed for they hold a crazy amount of line aswell. I have the 5500 ci4s and they are perfect for my lighter setup so that's why I recommend you buying the mediums they feel great and look good at that size aswell. Everything just feels a bit more balanced with the smaller ones

I was looking to upgrade from my Shimano 8000 baitrunners to something bigger, and was looking at the ci4+ 14000 xtc but someone said about the 5500 version but couldnt see much difference in size between the 5500 and my existing 8000 baitrunners.

I have Shimano Tribal 12ft 3lb TC rods
