Daiwa Emblem 45 SCW QD-OT or Penn Affinity III 7000? There's features on both that tick my boxes but would love to hear real world reviews from users before I hit the buy button.

I am a massive fan of Daiwa reels owned and used most models over the years and cant speak highly enough about the decent ones . Owned the first penn affinities and every bit as good as any daiwa i have had.

The daiwas are nice reel, decent line lay, decent drag, feel solid, but the penn are just better imo. Better line lay, better drag, again feel solid. I've only had the first 2 models and not this latest one but if the last 2 are anything to go by then they will be great reels

That's great stuff, thank you! I've an old set of the esp onyx big pits which I'm sure I read somewhere are rebadged Penn reels? They're awesome but about worn out and the xmas bonus is burning a hole.
As I'll be going in blind mail order, the 7000 size, what does that pertain to? Dimensionally are they about the same as the Daiwas?

Do the Penns have quick fold handles? Not for fishing but for quick pack up and fitting into my rod holdall.... looked at the reviews and videos but can't find the info on the folding handle for the III, I believe the II had them though?

Penns have quick fold handles and are ultra smooth
I have had Diawas and shimanos and apart from my shimano big pits the Penns win hands down 👍👍

I might be wrong but It does not look like the quick release handles are on the MK III Affinities and there's no mention of this in their descriptions..
The earlier ones had a spring loaded quick release and the closely related Michell Avocast 8000 BE has a button release similar to that of Daiwa emblems etc

How does the Affinity 7000 compare size wise to a Shimano Ultegra 14000? Or would the 8000 be the equivalent to this size reel.
