Hopefully a slightly different take on a familiar question, what reels should I look at for a nice balance on my scopes?
Two things that are a must is one click/quick fold handles and a quick drag. Budget is largely irrelevant for the right reel.
I currently have the fox fx9's and can't really fault them apart from they don't fulfill both of the conditions above. The only reel I am aware of that does, is the sonik xtractor 5000, and whilst I'm not a gear snob (I own a fair bit of sonik gear) I wonder if there is a better option available. I'm happy to do an after market quick drag conversion if necessary.

What length / Tc are we talking? I used to run 5000t / Emblem 5000 / Baboon's on my 3.5 10 footers and they were fine.

I had 10ft 3lb scopes for years and matched them up perfectly with Emblem 5000 Z's. I was just speaking to a mate today saying that it was the best all round set up that I have used, home and abroad.
Emblem Z's are hard to come by now, but you can pick up virtually brand new Black edition Emblems for about £300 for 3 and get them upgraded. If I had scopes again, I think that's what I'd do.

If you're happy with the FX9 reels you could upgrade the washers to speed up the drag and get some Weston developments folding handles

Castizm QD's - awesome reels and light as well. I have used them on my 10ft Hi S and they balance them very nicely.

Delivered today:
Daiwa Emblem 35 SCW 5000LD QD and the shimano 5500 Xtd
The 5500 XTD stays, i find the drag a lot better on the Xtd,
i am going to use them with my 12ft, but they are also ideal for under 10ft (500 gram/17.6 oz)
