Hi All,

I am looking to change my rods after 10 years!...So I don't want a broom stick, I am looking for a 'through action' rod capable of 50lb carp on French trips. I usually fish up to 100 yards and looking to spend between £150 and £200 per rod....what would you buy??

What do you have at the moment? Why do you want to replace them?

I bought rods by a company called Saxon. 3lb TC, just wanted a change...and reel seat not great and slightly twisted rings..

If I was to go back to using 12ft rods with your sort of budget I'd be looking at the free spirit e'class gold rods or free spirit CTX rods

Thanks....just wondered, you said go back to 12ft rods, what do you use now? I was thinking about 10ft rods but need them for France too at 100 yards. Do you now the difference in pay action on 10ft compared with 12ft?...

A set of century fbs in 3.5lb tc, second hand set probably with the budget mentioned...
Had a custom set for 10 yrs now, quality players rods with plenty of power, but can still cast to 100yds plus easily.
Have had cats to 90lb and carp to 58+ on these, more than up to the task and just superb at close quarters.
Used in France on a variety of waters and sizes, plus my main set of rods on a 40 acre pit in the UK...
Well worth a look
