Hi

I've been fishing on and off for many years but never really done much Carp fishing..... but now it's time to try and specialise more,

Reels? - i always understood carp fishing used bait runners, but when i look for reels to buy there seems to be a larger amount of non bait runners.

What is the advice from this forum?

A baitrunner is handy but really not needed. A half decent reel with the drag slackened off will serve the purpose just as well, just need to lift the rod, put pressure on the spool and tighten up a few turns.

Baitrunners are just a little more convenient, instant switch from runner to drag.
