Been a angler for 50 years never till now targeted Carp.Barbel have always been my fish of choice.So I'm up for some help.On tackle required especially rods and alarms.I have a limited budget so I'm looking for rods in the £150 bracket.So I can spend the winter months getting tackle together.Any help will be most appreciated.

All depends where you're planning to fish is going to dictate the kit you'll need, give us an idea of what your intentions are, size of water and fish etc. Buzzers, JRC CX are reasonable if you don't want to break the bank, or a set of the cheaper fox range are very good, oh, and there's those delkim things that some oddballs/weirdos like to use.

You can always look on tackle trader for second hand kit or eBay.

Is that £150 per rod, or for 2, or 3?

New fox mini alarms will do you nicely, plus if you dislike it, will be easier to sell on than some of the other lower priced alarms.

For 1 rod....

Sonik and Wychwood have very good rods if £150 is for 2/3 rods

I'd use your barbel gear, given that it's probably capable of chucking 4-5oz feeders they should be perfectly adaptable for carp fishing.
