I have just had a cardiac arrest and stroke which has left me quite weak and am thinking about gettone of the battery powered barrows.
What do you think of them, which should I be looking at and who is offering the best price?
Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Power porter 24v £875 doubt you'll get much of a discount as they're not readily available

out of interest the difference between a 12v and a 24v power porter
will only be evident on a hill ! so if there was a large price difference and you dont intend fishing anywhere with hills

Power porter 24v is the one to look at. Mine has been over all sorts of terrain over the past few years.
The other week after a particularly heavy downpour turning the paths of the lake into deep mud the power porter didn't struggle at all, not like i would if it was my old non powered barrow .

Don't think so but it's not a patch on the 24v as I once had the 12v

Hi Roland, I've had a prestige power porter for over 10 years now. it still working, though the batter replacement I got last year no longer seems reliable. but that isn't prestiges fault.
regarding your strength since the Heart issues. they are HEAVY and a lot of faff to pack down.
personally I wouldn't consider one unless you can wheel it in and out of a van. I'm hefty and used to lift it in and out of my Zafira. but at 53 I now have a van with a ramp. it did previously occur to me how long would I be able to keep lifting it?
secondly, if the trail you push is flat then you can use 3 wheels, and it's great. if it's not if it angles down around a lake
the power porter likes to tip more than the MK2. and it takes a lot more strength to keep it upright.
I found you cant load it so far forward, you have to take more weight on your arms. on a long flat push, or through mud, or gradients they are a real advantage though. so there is good and bad to them.

Just to add to others comments here, I've had my mk6 24v for about 3 years, I found the invoice the other day for £800 and it made me smile, I'd usually wince at a bill like that but I can honestly say its probably the best money I've ever spent.
I felt like I was going to keel over carrying all my gear about 300 yards up a steep hill with my old mark 2, so that pushed me over the edge to get one.
There is knack of folding it all away and I must say the wheel with the motor is a PIA as it weighs a ton and always flops to one side, but that apart I'd say it's a bit bigger than my old mk 2 but tops 5 minutes to assemble and dissamble. Once the battery is off and the wheel it's easy to pack down.
Personally I wouldn't think twice in your situation as long as you can get it in to and out of your car.
24 volt is the way to go, my mate has a 12v and it definitely won't go uphill fully loaded.
Good luck with your recovery and take it easy 👍

I've been out this weekend with mine and here's a piccy of the 24v workhorse and embarrassingly, the **** I carry for a day session.
I can't do overnighters with my kids situation at present but can you imagine also carrying all that extra gear, it is a heart attack in the making....
Absolute no brainer of a purchase.

How many miles would a 24v get on a single charge with kit loaded like in post 11?
In reply to Post #12
i guess that would be down to how good the bettery is,how much is loaded ect
i fish some pretty big pits and mine has never moved from green on the meter
