Hi guys, I've got a Shimano Aerlex 7000 that I use for spodding and marker work and the handle is a tad loose on it. Not opened it up yes as I have never tried to repair or service a reel before, but thought I would have a go. Is it likely to be a simple repair? I'm hoping something has just come a little loose inside.

Might just need a new star washer (whatever they're called) to help it grip as you tighten the handle knob.

I have taken the handle off and I can feel a little movement in the body, so that's where I think the issue is.

The main gear is not supported by bearings on that reel but has plastic bushes fitted.
If you strip the reel and replace the bushes with shielded bearings it will transform the feel and take up a lot of play.
I did it on two of mine...I think the bearings were only about £6 delivered.
