Hi all, I bought a set of Hi S 200's this time last year but I have barely used them due to not fishing where I originally thought I would be. On the few occasions that I have used them, although they are a lovely rod and surprisingly nice to play fish in on, I am struggling to get on with them casting wise. I just find them to stiff! So, reluctantly I am going to look at selling them and getting some different ones.
Anyway, my question is, I would like to stick with the Free Spirits ideally but don't really know much about them or anyone that uses them. I have been looking at either the Hi S 3.5's or something like the Hi S eve or Hi s eve'er. Can anyone who uses these rods give me any feedback. Ideally I would like a rod that is suited to all round carp fishing whether it be casting 75 yards, or if need be, capable of putting a lead up to 150 yards (about my limit) comfortably.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I would Book a tuition with Terry Edmonds or Mark Hutchinson for hands on experience of as many different brands/action styles of distance rod that you seek or prefer.
Try before you buy would be my advice, a set of 3 rods ain't cheap !!

Out of the three I would take a look at the His Ive Er's, or Ives, as I think you may struggle to hit 150 with the 3.5's..

I've got 'Hutch' spec 13ft hi s 200's, love them for over 100yds.
I also have XX Black Edition 12ft hi s 3.5tc they are lovely and slim and do chuck a lead ok, i find them slightly on the soft side for myself so ive just ordered some XX black edition hi s ive er's, hoping this will bridge the gap.
I fish waters a couple of acres up to 70 acres so a choice of different rods is nice to have.
One thing i would say is to get casting lessons, i had mine with Hutchy him self.

Hutch recommends the 13 foot hi sive as the best all round rod in the range for normal casters the 200 is a pure casting rod and need good casting skills to get the most out of them.
the 13 foot hi sive is a lot more user friendly.
myself for my distance rods went for the tacklebox cfx 13 foot continentals they cost a lot less than fs and are easy to cast with 150 should be no problem. I think 180 with a very good caster.
I rarely use them as I mostly use 10 foot rods so spending a ton of money on rods that sit in storage 90% of the time is pointless for me
