with my boilie fishing over the upcoming months i was thinking off implementing a stringer due to the fact that no others are using and its a bit of a forgotten tactic. However 95% my fishing is using a heli set up with either a multi hinge rig or a choddy.
i was wondering if and how people are using them on heli set up , i was thinking about threading through the stiff upright section off the multi but worried about it dragging the rig down or failing that putting the stringer round the lead system but over silt/weed surely it will get buried , whats peoples thoughts ?

I can assure you won't be the only one using it. I still use and see people on the bank using them, but it is not as common as some other methods.
If I'm using a stiff hinge or choddy, I run the stringer from the weight. Even if it tangles with the rig, which only happens if I make the stringer quite long, it'll melt off anyway. Though on rare occasions it may have brought the hook around the leader. Just have to hit the clip and keep an eye on it when it goes down.

on my current water with very limited members i can honestly say in my 3 years there i have never seen one enter the water , but as you say it doesn't mean they are not being used.
in regards to running the stringer from the weight , do you only do this on clean/hard bottoms or would you do this over silt/silkweed ?

I've done it on low lying silkweed with a choddy and caught on it. Couldn't say for sure if the stringer was doing it's job though since I'd still catch after recasting and being too lazy to put another stringer on. Definitely works on a clean bottom with a wafter, especially on pressured water.

definitely an out of fashion under used tactic, using a helicopter type set up over weed or silt you may as well just use a small mesh bag of boilies imo, with foam added to keep it up if needed. always felt stringers worked best on a standard leadclip/in line type set up over cleaner bottom with just a standard bottom/wafter hookbait just gives fish a nice little line of bait to home in on and hoover up easily.

I do love a stringer and often fish a 3 or 4 bait stringer when fishing to clean bottom areas.
I fish lead clips so its quiet straightforward. I also like to crack but not seperate two boilies for a bit quicker leakage, and the other two will be broken into halves and then threaded and have the whole stringer tied tight with no separation.
If there is bottom weed i will fish a solid bag.
