I bought two XTB-LC's a year last June, and they've not been used a lot.
Unfortunately one of them's bail arm has started to fail tripping over. Any suggestions?
Being an engineer, and serviced my own reels in my youth, I have had a bit of a look to see what is amiss, but can't see anything obviously wrong.
Although I'm very disappointed with the build quality compared to Shimano's off old.

I tend to agree, the overall build quality isn't what it was. There seems to be a focus on fancy gearing and a lack of attention to detail around some other things, namely bail arm springs. I have a thunnus 4000 ci4 and the same thing is happening. It's also a known fault on the 4000D. They seem to scratch up easier too these days. I would send it to Felindre and get them to sort it out.

I took s few parts of mine apart trying to fix it and was just stunned at the bits and pieces inside. An item for example is the safety guard behind the spool. That's just going to break if ever you store the reel without the spool on.
These are now £140 reels so not cheap. I think I need to look at C14's and see if justifying the higher price is worth it.
Some of the Daiwa reels are plasticy too these days, so maybe looking at the Penns is another option as they get some good reviews
