I was wondering what people's opinions were on the black mk 2 safeliners . I am a long time user of the Johnson Ross stow indicators but the clips are getting a little loose and also fancied a change . Everywhere is out of stock at the moment but when they're back in I might make a purchase . I had read a few older posts that had mentioned that the black coating damages / comes off quite easy and didn't know whether this was still the case , many thanks .

The coating has been improved. I've got a set of stows. A set of mk1 safeliners and a set of the mk2's. I only use the mk2 safeliners now. They cover everything I need an indicator to do. Because you simply slide the weights on to change them, it takes seconds to change them if conditions change. I use them from under the rod tips out to the maximum range that I can cast.

As far as availability. Message Tom on one of their social media pages and I'm sure he will be able to give you some idea of when they will be back in stock. Hopefully not long now.

Thanks for the reply . Am I assuming that the coating issue was when sliding on and off the weights ? Is it the same coating that is on the pro light black as I have found this quite hard wearing, thanks .

Hi. It's not the same coating on the safeliners as the bank sticks. Because they are made out of a different base metal. So they use a different process for the safe liners to make sure it's tough. Goes over my head a bit to be honest, I'm not a chemist :-) but the end result is the same. I've not seen them yet but I believe it's a matt black finish which I'm told looks very nice. Also the weights are now black I believe, where as mine are the original Uncoated stainless.

They will either be powder coated or anodized.
