I'm in the market for a new spod reel and the choice is between the above 2.
Has anyone experience of both?

I was considering the same two reels a few months ago and i spoke to a few shops about them and every single one told me to avoid both reels and get the original emblem spod reel. Apparently the slow oscillation can cause problems with knots on the shimano when using braid as the braid sits to tightly together. The original emblem spod is tried and tested and is bomb proof.

I have the Shimano, have had zero issues with wind knots. I use Chinese imported cheap 20lb braid with a leader. Always make sure its wet before use, cant even remember the last time I had a wind knot and I spod long, all the time.

The reel, ive had since they came out, been used a lot. I havent used the Emblem so cant compare but its a from me on the shimano.

I managed to pick up a nearly new Shimano Comp Spod on Facebook sales 8 miles from my house.

So I'll give it a fling this weekend and see what happens!
