I have owned my old reels for so long they where sounding like a bad gearbox so I have treated my self to some new daiwa reels and tomorrow I am going to load them with line but they have come with line lay washers and I just cannot remember how they act and if I should use them or not, can someone please tell me should I use them or not and what exactly they do?? They only need adding or removing if the line cones one way or the other. I've got those and they didn't need any

If it tapers outwards towards the front you need to add washers. If it tapers towards the back take them away. I recently did mine you can wrap it all into distance sticks if it's not right and start again.
