hi all .. have some free spirit e class gold rods , 4 years old ish ..and the perdurable finish seems to be not too permanent or durable !!!
between the reel seat and butt grip its looking decidedly untidy on one of them and going same way on another.....anyone got same and any idea of a fix . cheers

Seems strange,I've had mine roughly the same time and are perfect. Maybey it's some crap like spod mix on it and just needs cleaned. Failing that,some silicone free car wax might shift it.

There is nothing on there. It's unfinished raw carbon which you've scratched, so über fine finishing paper would be your best bet and some form of protection for the future as damaged blanks are obviously not ideal

Just refurbished a set of 2.75s of these with a similar issue, the finish almost looked dry thats the best way i way i can describe it, i used a silicon/teflon polish that century were kind enough to send me a while back although i don't know where you get this from but it bought the blanks back to new standard visually. Might be worth having a word with cotswold rods as they do a rod care kit that has a nice polish in it.

its not spod mix , I've wiped it just in case , i'm a boilie angler so don't use it....... best way I can describe it is like a very thin layer of ' varnish ' is coming away , dry would be a decent description . you can almost flake it off with ya nail...

Thats exactly what i refurbished for mate, i think its the carbon tape to be honest. Try a nice thick waxy polish mate, its almost like it rehydrates it lol.
