Hi im new here

I have never fished france and Im planning a fat ass solo adventure

I want to do a week by myself and was wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I couldnt find any threads or much on google

Im planning to go late august, depending on availability of course.

Think its safe to leave my bivvy for an hour whilst I go food shopping? Do any of you also solo fish france?

Any help or advice is apreciated

It all depends on where you go really.
I do at least one trip a year for two weeks on my own and always book this on a commercial fishery where it is safe and has toilets and showers plus staff at the lake.

I have never had any issues on these types of water.
As for leaving the lake to go to the shops, I always take enough food to last my trip, I have use of a fridge and freezer at the venue I've fished for a couple of years now so I have no problems storing things.
On my two week trips over the years I have not yet once needed to go to the shops for anything, my fishing trip is just that, a fishing trip.

Plan on how much food you will need for each day then just take a bit more and you will be fine.

I do a trip a year on my own and like Ken pick a commercial venue . These have always been secure so no problems on that front. I go to the supermarket before arriving at the venue and stock up on fresh food, water and beer for the first half of the week and then go again on Tuesday or Wednesday fill the van with diesel and shop for the second half of the week. There is no need to take everything with you.

Hi. Most of the angling lines lakes are fenced in and have a bailiff a couple of times that could watch your gear. Done three trips like this with no problems
Still normally work out my food menu for the week and go to Tesco's on the way down.
Food is cheaper in the UK and more choice of what we eat
I have also done some trips where you get the coach at Dover and get taken to the lake and includes a food package I would personally recommend Crete lakes large lake but it's not for everyone

Whenever I go on my own I go for two weeks to water down the cost. It can work out very expensive if in your own vehicle. I've found it suits me to have the first week further south then the second week more northern. Not so much of a grueller the drive home on your own then. Good luck

It is a bit... I never thought it would become so pricey when I 1st decided to do this trip.

The Ferry alone is £200!

That's only because your trying to book it at a time when every man and his dog wants a holiday.

The ferry is cheaper other times of the year, say April or October when the fishing is still good but not peak holiday season.
Also when you know what Venue you are going to look for other ferry crossing routes as it could cut down on driving time.
I go from Portsmouth to St Malo then drive to where I am fishing, it's pricey but it cuts out many hours behind the wheel driving. So saves diesel and wear on the van.

Also try the late or early crossings. Normally cheaper
I normally try to get on the 1 am with the hour forward and the 2.5 hr crossing it gets you into France for 4.30 ish. This normally then allows for some kip half way through the drive

If you've got Tesco vouchers then £1 buys you £3 of Eurotunnel or Ferry tickets
So a £200 crossing could be closer to £65 of Tesco vouchers!

Been around for a few years
Couple of things though
They have to be in the drivers name and you can't add other people's together
You really need to save them up to get the benefit of them
Look on the club card website it tells you all about it
Are you sure?
